Summer School "Israel on the Global Political Scene"
The Summer School entitled „Israel on the Global Political Scene” will take place between 3-5 August 2020 at the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration in Bucharest (on-line format), and is organised by the „Theodor Herzl” Centre of Israel Studies.
This year’s Summer School will focus on the domestic and foreign dimensions of the Israeli politics, as part of the current dynamics behind the global politics. The Summer School aims at providing the participants with a comprehensive approach towards the main elements behind the current directions of the Israeli system of governance, based on the expertise provided by the lecturers at the event.
Eligibility:
We are looking for BA / MA students (including graduates in 2020) with a strong interest in topics related to Israel. Students with a degree in Political Science, International Relations, Area Studies, Military Studies are particularly encouraged to apply. A maximum of 20 students may participate. As the application process requires sending a 2500 words topic related academic paper, the best 5 authors will have the opportunity to present their work and receive feedback during one of the sessions of the Summer School.
Certification:
All students who complete the Summer School will receive an Attendance Certificate. Certificates will be delivered either in person at the end of the Summer School or sent to students in virtual format. Following the evaluation of the lecturers at the Summer School, the author of the most original and well documented academic paper will receive a special prize of $150.
The participants will be able to choose the topic of their essay in exclusive relation to Israel on subjects from the area of:
- Economy;
- Technology and Innovation;
- Political Parties;
- Security;
- Diplomacy;
How to apply

1. A cover letter describing your motivation to participate in the Summer School;
2. A 2500 words topic related academic paper (in English). Although the paper has to be written in English, the participants will be able to present in Romanian too;
3. Your CV (2 pages maximum);
Deadline: 26 July 2020
The event is organised with the support of the National University of Political Science and Public Administration, and the Israel Institute (Washington D.C.).
Due to the current situation created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be held on-line.
